Cabinet clears 2.7bn Micron chip testing packaging unit Report

The Union Cabinet has cleared US chipmaker Micron Technology's $2.7-billion plan for a new semiconductor testing and packaging unit, Reuters reported on Tuesday, ahead of PM Narendra Modi's state visit to the US. Production-linked incentives worth $1.34 billion were approved for the plant, reportedly set to be built in Gujarat. Cabinet approval was required due to incentive package's size.
