Amul hikes milk prices across Gujarat by Rs 2 per litre

Amul milk prices were raised by Rs 2 per litre across the state Saturday by the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF). This is the first hike in milk prices in the state after the Gujarat Assembly elections concluded in December 2022. Sources said rising fodder and transportation prices have contributed to the rise in cost of milk production. With the latest hike, the price of Amul Buffalo milk is now Rs 68 per litre, while the price of Amul Gold has gone up to Rs 64 per litre, while that of Amul Shakti is Rs 58 per litre. The price of Amul Cow Milk is Rs 54 per litre now, Amul Tazaa is Rs 52 per litre and Amul T-special costs Rs 60 per litre. In the last six months, the prices of different brands of Amul milk were hiked twice across India by GCMMF but Gujarat was exempted. Ahead of the Assembly elections in the state, Amul raised prices by Rs 2 per litre in October 2022 and then raised it by another Rs 3 in February 2023 for all markets, except Gujarat. The last hike in milk prices enforced in Gujarat was on August 2022.
